WHAT MAKES OPTIMUS UNIQUE?
Optimus has both European/UK and US Offices together with corresponding Attorneys that are able to support concurrent, coordinated and streamlined EP/UK and US filing and prosecution strategies. Optimus’ Attorneys have an unparalleled wealth of experience in patent drafting and patent prosecution of cases at the EP/UK and US Patent Offices (in addition to PCT filings and patent prosecution in far-east countries). This experience has been gained over many years in both industry and private practice. Optimus’ Attorney Team is also able to achieve better success in obtaining granted patents and add value for our clients’ patent portfolios as some of our Attorneys have worked as Patent Examiners for the United States Patent Office (USPTO) and European Patent Office (EPO). This unique experience provides the additional insight of ‘insider’ knowledge and understanding of how Patent Examiners are trained to approach the examination of our clients’ patent applications.
Optimus is a niche patent firm specialising in Telecommunications, Electronics, Software, Semiconductor, Medical and Renewable technologies (rather than a generalist patent firm that supports all and sundry technologies). Optimus’ clients in these technologies instruct us, to attain more, faster and broader patents and ensure they maintain their market dominance through IP protection.
The quality of Optimus’ patent drafting and prosecution is truly ‘World-Class’, resulting in a success rate of c.91%+ allowance/grant on the patented inventions that Optimus’ Attorneys have drafted and prosecuted, and a success rate of c.83%+ on the patent applications that clients have transferred to us that were drafted by other firms. This success rate compares with Patent Offices granting 60-65% of patent applications that were filed. The patent portfolios of many hundreds of cases that we have developed with our clients have been sold for many £10m’s.
Optimus’ Attorneys’ technical knowledge and ability to describe and enhance the patent specifications is unequalled. Tony Wray, the Director, has 20+ granted patent (families) as a Researcher and an inventor, prior to joining the patent profession. New clients are recommended to approach us based on the referrer’s (or their colleague’s) personal experience, our skill-set, quality of our work, success rate and our reputation.
We are an inclusive and collaborative firm. By this, we mean that we place a great deal of weight on building relationships with our clients that result in mutual trust. We don’t just work on cases; we invest our own time in building excellent, lasting relationships with our clients so that we can better understand their businesses. It is through building excellent relationships that we believe that we can further the patent portfolio interests of our clients to the best of our abilities. In this manner, we perform an “in-house service as an Outside Counsel” (Sony UK Patent Manager). Driven by our enthusiasm for the technical fields that we specialise in, and the enjoyment in the work, we strive to provide the best possible service to our clients. For some clients, our range of services additionally includes: advising on internal innovation processes, invention reviews, brainstorming or advanced inventing sessions, product invention extraction, portfolio development, invoicing, bespoke portfolio reports, etc.
We also utilise our excellent network of foreign agents and associates who assist us with foreign filing our client’s applications worldwide. As a consequence, Optimus’ reputation and client base continues to grow rapidly.
Clients trust us to get it right, and we do.
